A St. Louis Real Estate Story Almost 100 Years in the Making

It started in 1927, when Louis Mitleider opened Mitleider Real Estate in downtown St. Louis. What began as a small local operation would grow into something far greater than anyone could have imagined: a multi-generational family business built on three principles that have never changed. Integrity, honesty, and fairness.

In 1946, Harold Klamen joined his father-in-law's business, and by 1955 he had established Klamen Real Estate Group in the University City Loop. As St. Louis grew and changed, so did Klamen. In 1966, they moved the business to 7508 Delmar, an address that became synonymous with the Klamen name in the community.

In 1981, Harold's son Kelly joined the business, carrying the family legacy forward and growing the company into the trusted name it is today. Kelly spent 43 years building relationships, buying and rehabilitating homes across St. Louis, and strengthening a reputation that no national company could replicate. In 2016, Kelly's son Chad joined, followed by his brothers Ryan and Jake. In 2025, Kelly passed the reins to his sons, the fourth generation of a family that has called St. Louis home for nearly a century.

This is not a call center in another state. This is not a national algorithm making lowball offers on your home. This is a family that has been your neighbor for almost 100 years.

The Next Chapter of a Family Legacy

Chad, Jake, and Ryan Klamen grew up watching their father, Kelly, do something most people never get to see up close: build a business rooted in genuinely helping people. They watched him treat every seller with respect, every transaction with care, and every home with the understanding that it represented far more than four walls and a roof.

Before joining the family business, each brother went out into the world, gained experience at other companies, and came back with fresh skills and new perspectives. That was intentional. Their father wanted them to walk through the door ready to contribute, not just to carry a name.

Today, Chad and Ryan lead Klamen Real Estate Group's residential operations, helping St. Louis homeowners sell quickly, fairly, and without stress. Jake leads the commercial division through Klamen Commercial Advisors (klamencommercial.com), bringing the same family values and St. Louis roots to commercial real estate transactions across the region.

Together, three brothers are carrying nearly 100 years of family legacy into its next chapter. The faces have changed. The commitment to this city has not.

Chad Klamen

Co-Owner & Principal

Chad was born into this business, but that is not why he loves it. What keeps him coming back every day is the difference a simple, stress-free transaction can make in someone's life. When he is not working, you will find him with his wife and daughter at Forest Park, a St. Louis landmark that feels like home.

Chad's approach to every transaction is the same: remove the stress and make it simple. That philosophy was put to the test with one seller who was transitioning into assisted living. Chad and the team coordinated a complete move alongside the sale, with an in-house packing specialist handling both the packing and unpacking. They structured an eight-month extended closing and adjusted the timeline multiple times to fit the seller's needs. The seller was a veteran, and his gratitude meant everything to Chad and the entire team.

"My favorite thing about buying houses is the difference we make by reducing stress through simplifying real estate sale transactions."

Ryan Klamen

Co-Owner & Principal

Ryan loves meeting new people and finding ways to help them through difficult moments. Outside of work, he is spending time with his family, catching new movies, or exploring somewhere new on a trip.

That genuine care for people showed up in one of his most memorable transactions: helping a 98-year-old man whose family decided it was time for him to sell the home he had lived in for over 60 years. The sale itself was the easy part. Ryan and the team helped the family pack and ship belongings to his son's home and connected them with an estate sale team to ensure they got full value from what remained. Having navigated a similar experience with his own grandparents, Ryan understood the emotional weight of that transition and made sure the family never felt alone in it.

Nick Finefrock

Acquisitions Specialist

Nick believes every home has a story, and his favorite part of this work is hearing them. When he steps away from the office, you will find him out on his motorcycle, exploring new roads and clearing his head.

One seller Nick helped had inherited a St. Louis property while living out of state in Florida. The home needed major repairs and was still full of belongings, an overwhelming situation to manage from a distance. Nick walked her through every option available, including the traditional listing route, so she could make the best decision with full information. Klamen's offer came in higher than other investors, and she chose them for the certainty and simplicity they provided. When title issues surfaced that could have derailed the closing, Nick worked closely with attorneys and the title company to resolve everything. A mobile notary was arranged so she never had to travel. What started as a stressful, complicated situation ended with complete relief.

"My favorite part of the business is meeting the people and hearing their stories."

Lambert Hanna

Acquisitions Specialist

Lambert is drawn to the moments where real guidance makes a real difference. Away from work, he is on the tennis court, on the golf course, walking the parks of St. Louis, or spending time with family. Someone who clearly loves this city.

The transaction that stands out most to Lambert involved an out-of-state family who had just lost a loved one. The property was headed toward foreclosure in less than two weeks, and the family was overwhelmed trying to manage the estate remotely while struggling to get clear answers from the bank. Lambert moved quickly to help postpone the foreclosure, giving the team the time needed to facilitate a fast, clean sale. The proceeds from that sale are now funding his nieces' and nephews' college education. Turning that level of hardship into something that shapes the next generation's future is exactly why Lambert does this work.

"What I love most about buying houses is the opportunity to work with people in all kinds of situations, offer guidance, and help find solutions that truly make a difference."
